Mast Reforestation
Rebrand
DroneSeed, the pioneering tech innovator using heavy lift drones to replant post-wildfire, needed a new look. Prompted by acquiring two nurseries, a move that has allowed them to scale reforestation efforts, and provide reforestation as a service to wildfire affected landowners by the sale of nature-based carbon removal credits. With this business model shift, we focused on landowners and companies looking to meet carbon goals when developing the new visual brand.
Their quest led to a brand that retained its technological edge while embracing traditional forestry management practices grounded in science. A tech-led reforestation approach that empowers the forestry workforce and companies to adapt in the face of evolving values, markets, and, crucially, climate dynamics.
Naming
In the context of reforestation, "mast" refers to the reproductive structures produced by certain trees, typically conifers like pine, spruce, or fir. These structures include cones and seeds. Mast plays a vital role in the natural regeneration of forests, as it represents the means by which trees reproduce and disperse their seeds, contributing to the establishment of new growth and the continuity of forest ecosystems.
